I was on a flight a couple years back....
The stickers on the food carts had the previous nights flight number.
If AC is like the UA DEN catering center, food safety timer begins once it is put on a truck at the temperature controlled staging site. The expected holding time in flight dictates how much dry ice was supplied in each cart.
For a 13hr flight, I bet the catering and pilots both time out after far less than a 6hr delay.
