You've pretty much got it.
But a few general things to keep in mind when looking at availability numbers:
- The numbers are the number of tickets available for sale in each class, not necessarily the number of seats (they can and do overbook).
- 9 is as high as the Carlson availability tool goes, so there are at least 9 tickets available (not necessarily limited to 9).
- Availability is not cumulative. Some classes may be subsets of other classes. So there are at least 9 tickets available for sale in each class on the first flight, but there are not necessarily 81 tickets (9 times the 9 different classes) available.
- Sometimes availability tools will show all-9's across the board, but the airline still won't sell a seat in some of the low classes. That's because fares are restricted by a combination of availability and whether the airline has an applicable fare published on that route.
