Unfortunately im not able to post photos until i have reached 5 posts.
However having said that, i have collected some screen shots as follows.
1) A screenshot of the seatmap from when we go to select our seats on the Malaysian website. This clearly only shows a 1-2-1 config. (will attach once i have enough posts)
2) A screenshot of the seatmap from aerolopa for the standard Malaysian A350-900 - This clearly shows a combination of 1-2-1 and 1-2-2. Note this does NOT match the Malaysian Airlines website. (will attach once i have enough posts)
3) Photos i found on the internet showing the Malaysian A350-900 business class cabin depicting the same combination of 1-2-1 and 1-2-2. NOTE - Again this photo does NOT support what is shown on the Malaysian Airlines website. (will attach once i have enough posts)
So - thus my confusion.
Again - if the aircraft running our segment was indeed 9M-MAH (with the 1-2-1 config), then it would all make sense..........but given how far out our flight is i find that very unlikely.?
Appreciate any suggestions or guidance.

Yes, do post that picture once you can.
MH does have to assign the new plane somewhere - as they need to with all their aircraft - so why not the MEL route? (Or perhaps they are expecting to lease more than just the one? I have no idea.)
MH can always change the assigned aircraft later; though, if they do and the seating map differs, any seat selection will likely be force-changed.
Again, look at the row numbers and placements you see in the AeroLOPA seat maps and compare it to what you see:
- If Row 1 is shown with 2 rows behind the 2nd set of doors, then it is the loaner
- if it starts at Row 2 (like their other A350s, as Row 1 is F) or with a 3-row mini-cabin behind the 2nd doors, but still not showing a staggered 1-2-1/1-2-2 config, there could be something else going on.
