The reason you were charged less is that Australia residents do not pay the additional IVL fee (NZ$35) that most others do, so by claiming you're an Aussie resident they will have not charged you that fee. It may be possible to simply pay that separately.
Took your advise. This morning NZ time;
NZ immigration dept that handles NZeTA. Spoke to the officer. Because it was just 1 question that I answered incorrectly, the officer could not do the change. I had to re-apply. I will go ahead & re-apply later this week.
