I stayed at the Okura back in Nov 2023. I thought it was fantastic. The lobby is spectacular, the room was terrific, and the service was top notch. No stuffiness, just friendliness.

Over the years, I’ve stayed at the Palace, the 4 Seasons Maranouchi, and at the Shangri-La in Tokyo and while I’ve liked my stays at all of them, something about the Okura was quite special.

When I go back to Tokyo, I will pick between the Palace and the Okura. The single “complaint” I have about the Okura is that the concierge services were sub-par especially when compared to the Palace. Also the Palace, which was a couple of years prior to the pandemic for me, was just a notch higher from an overall experience.

Finally, at the Okura we snacked once or twice at the lounge, ate breakfast at two different on-site places and lunched once and had dinner once at different on-site restaurants. We enjoyed every single meal; the sushi was great, the teppanyaki was outstanding, and the breakfasts satisfying but none were a wow. I wouldn't pick any of the meals as the best meal of that type on my last trip. (Granted, wowed is a high bar). Hope this helps
