Paid upgrades on award tickets?
Can I do a PAID cash upgrade to F on a reward J ticket? The latter is available on my itinerary, and even if I pay the full o/w fare difference it's a reasonable deal -- being able to finally get decent value from my Amex MR points! Ideally I would like to do this right after booking, not wait until the airport. Otherwise I can just buy F, it's a little high but not crazy, and I suppose EK F is a bit of a bucket list item. The F fare is also refundable minus a small fee so I can at least hold that and hope a full award F becomes available.
