This has been happening for many years ex-CDG, so it is not one crew. And France is not alone in this. I experienced the same on an ex-Dublin departure recently.
It was discussed a while ago either in this thread or another, and the consensus appeared to be that it is related to the rules about duty payable on alcohol opened and served on the ground. Each EU country is free to decide its own duties and taxes, and when those are payable, hence some variation between States.
