We were on our honeymoon, and I am a diamond member. I think those two things definitely helped.) I highly recommend this room. It is next to the Napua rooms.
Re discussion of the gold/diamond f&b credit and breakfast, you can order a la carte instead of the pricey buffet. We did so every day except for the day we had to leave early to drive to Hana. (We ordered room service that day because it starts at 6 am.) Portions are large so we split the main item and were glad we did. On different days we had the lobster omelet, short rib & eggs (twice), and fried chicken & waffles. They were all very good, but we liked the short rib the best. The rum banana pancakes also looked good, but we didn't want to be in a sugar coma the rest of the day.
If you stick with water, you can actually stay within the f&b credit if you split an item not including tip. We had non-alcoholic drinks with breakfast, so it put us over but not by a lot. It was well worth it.

Wow! Happy you got that upgrade. We were basically in the same boat (Honeymoon, Diamond, stay 26th-30th) but only got an Oceanview Room after asking. A la carte at Ikena seems like a good choice too but we used our credit on Loulu and some souvenir snacks.
