asking for a family member whose was originally scheduled to fly a nonstop flight on one of the affected UA 737s. UA ended up rebooking him on American Airlines, but with a connection(DFW).

In such cases, will he still be able to receive the original UA miles? Also, AA did not charge him the standard checked baggage fee. Was it because when United rebooked him, they noted that in the reservation or did AA simply forgot to charge him? Or how does that usually work? (he has the United credit card that allowed one free bag)
