My personal speculation and I do not claim to be an expert in this field, but I suspect this incident may be caused by deferred maintenance. The plane involved had pressurization issues multiple times, and a few weeks ago AS flights were cancelled as planes failed to meet inspection requirements, which to me could mean that there is something amiss with the way AS takes care of their planes. I think UA is doing well on the maintenance side since the PW 772 engine issues a few years ago.
It was a 2 MONTH OLD plane!!
