So I also thought that I had finally had some good luck - my $175 fee for three AUs hit my bill in October, and I figured that I was good on the three of them for a year. But my December statement shows a charge of $195 for one of the AUs. When I called, two different agents have told me that the new AUs fees will bill in the month that is the anniversary of when the cards were first opened (years ago).
I totally understand that adding new AUs would generate the $195 fee, but I had always thought (wrongly, I guess) that an annual payment of $175 gave me the opportunity to have 1, 2, or 3 AUs. I paid the $175 in October, assuming that it gave me three for the year. Now they are telling me that the $175 fee that I paid in October was an annual fee for one AU (the card with anniversary date in October).
I don't think I have seen any mention of a fee of $175 that covers one card. I presume others are experiencing the same - is there any AMEX documentation that someone can point me to that might show a reference of $175 for a single AU? Thanks.
