I currently have a rental from a local Hertz because my car is being worked on. It looks like I'll need to extend it because they are still waiting on a part to finish my car. I looked at my Hertz reservation online and the quote to extend my reservation is literally double the rate per day than I am currently paying. However, when I quote it as a new reservation for the additional days, its the same rate I am currently on. I don't quite understand this? Is there some built in penalty or fee for doing an extension? Why wouldn't I just redo the contract at the currently quoted daily rate?
