Agree - I believe it's the operational and general boarding process friction that would be caused if it became a *thing* on Southwest where many people buy multiple seats.
The COS policy, even after Tiktok discovers it (ten years later) and loses its mind about it for a week, is still a pretty rare thing. I fly a lot, board in the mid-A's where I'd see the placards if they were there, and I usually don't see one. I think it's a win-win to keep it at that level, doesn't affect the macro-level economics of the business, makes all travelers more comfortable, and doesn't affect ops too much.
Yeah, I'd *love* a 2nd seat, especially when I'm hammering one of the 2 or 3 best fare sales a year loading up on tickets, but I kind of get why they don't want everybody doing this.
