Spent 4 nights here at the beginning of the year. Hotel was at 100% occupancy, so upgrade was minimal -- a room above the lounge. Ocean visible in the distance, very nice and well-appointed room that would pass for a junior suite elsewhere. Huge welcome fruit plate, some chocolates, handwritten note from the GM.
Club lounge is excellent. It's a great space with some outdoor and some air-conditioned seating. Small pool with a dozen or so loungers. Even though beach and main pools were packed, we were alone at the club pool most of the time, and only occasionally joined by another couple. Soft drinks available at the pool all day, although staff didn't make the most frequent rounds, so one would have to get up and head to the service area to make requests. Club pool has room-service food available for delivery, but not the full menu served at other outlets.
Breakfast was available at the club lounge or restaurant. Never tried the latter because the former is excellent. A small buffet with high quality cold and hot items, plus a menu offering freshly prepared hot dishes: Lobster and abalone pho, eggs benedict with caviar, unagi rice bowl, etc. All very tasty. Club lounge also serves a beautiful afternoon tea (2-4pm). Evening spread (5:30-7:30pm) less impressive, with three hot items (small dishes) brought to the table and a small buffet with tiny bites of appetizers and desserts. Bartender mixes creative and tasty drinks.
Resort had a good vibe, lots of families and a couple big weddings, but nothing too unruly. Rooftop bar is fun with a very pleasant view, tasty bar snacks (yakitori, sliders, octopus banh mi), and great drinks.
Many of the staff are young and inexperienced, including some very recent hires. All friendly and enthusiastic, but there are occasional head-shakers, which I assume stem from staff not wanting to make mistakes. For instance, we were lectured what the VND 280k Ambassador voucher applies to and doesn't, and admonished that we could have breakfast either at the club or the restaurant, but not both. It hadn't crossed my mind that enough people might do this for it to be a concern warranting a warning. One morning we sat at the club lounge and my SO inexplicably wanted a side of mashed potatoes from the "kids" section of the club breakfast menu; the server came back and explained that they couldn't do it, the kids menu is for kids only. Twenty minutes later, mashed potatoes showed up. None of these are major, of course, but it wasn't quite as smooth as it could have been.
Housekeeping couldn't keep up with the high occupancy. We returned to our room between 4 and 5pm several times and found that it hadn't been serviced. On the second to last day, housekeeping took the towels we had discarded in the bathtub and hung them back up, rather than leaving fresh towels. Biggest annoyance, the internet barely worked.
Overall, this has to be one of the better IC Resorts in the region, trailing only IC Danang? Far beats the crappy Sheraton and overhyped JW (my only points of reference on PQC), and also compares favorably to the several dozen Bonvoy and Hyatt options I've been to in the region. Excellent value for Diamonds with Lounge pass, and a shockingly good redemption at 27k points/night during this extreme high season (vs cash rates of $340+). We were just about ready to book again for next year, but then a buggy picked us up and took us to the next-door Regent, which is stunning.
