Surely the best long term plan would be to replace T3 with a US terminal (once expansion of T2 is complete). That would enable all the airlines to offer it to their passengers. Between BA, AA, Jet Blue, Virgin, United, and Delta there are now over 250 flights a day to the US. With pre clearance that number could well increase further as LHR would become Europe’s main entry point to the US. A dedicated terminal with all the facilities of T5/T3 would produce a great experience and hugely enhance LHRs competitive wpedge against CDG, AMS ans FRA/MUN
Indeed. Sadly though, it probably won’t happen in our lifetimes. This is LHR we’re talking about - the airport that still can’t knock down T1 because almost nine years after it closed it continues to house T2’s baggage handling systems.
