If you are looking for the "grande dame" experience, Grand Hotel Wien is definitely the superior choice, but it will cost you dearly as well ...
Thanks MichaelA380 , let me be more clear on the location by saying that it is a bit more of a walk into the center (say Stephansdom) from Indigo versus IC and if one was coming from the airport and wanted to take the train, IC location is more convenient and I have dragged my cabin rollaboard from Hilton along Stadtpark many times.

Otherwise the Indigo location is entirely manageable with public transport, I agree. Nothing terrible about it. I stayed for over a year in Vienna back in the days (switching every week between IC and Hilton Park to maintain RA and HH Diamond), so the area is just more familiar, but no issue staying somewhere else. Appreciate your offer for tips on getting around.

As our corporate rate just dropped further at the Indigo and the parking is also a fair bit cheaper (we will have a car as coming from Germany and going to Tirol afterwards, will just park it there and leave it while in Vienna - rental car prices are much higher in Austria vs. Germany so this still saves a chunk of cash, go figure), we'll go for the Indigo as over our planned 5 day stay we can save over 400+ Euro which is decent enough and rather spend on dinning . Plus, as I mentioned already, AMB upgrades are nothing spectacular at the IC any longer since they introduced the "higher floor" Classic room category given our negotiated corporate rate only allows booking for the entry level Classic room and mostly they stick to a one-category bump up these days regardless of my total nights with them over the years (not expecting a Jr. Suite / 1 Bdrm Suite or so, but a Deluxe was always given for me as AMB before the "high floor" charades started).

I'll definitely be back at the IC if / when it has been renovated / rebuild to give it a spin.
