Thanx for the memories!
There is a recording still circulating in the radio industry of Don Imus (a Cleveland disc jockey at the time) calling the Hertz office in Indianapolis and asking the counter clerk, who doesn't know this is all going out live on the air, about renting one of the Shelby Cobras for Memorial Day (the date, some of you may have realized, of a certain auto race in that city). "I'm only going to need it for one day, but I'm going to put a lot of miles on it -- maybe 500 or so" Imus tells her. The clerk says that's no problem, but she does get more than a bit confused as Imus asks her if Hertz can make some modifications to the car, such as taking out all the seats except the driver's and installing a roll cage.
Thanx for the memories indeed.
