If in Hawaii, I think the number of tourists stuck and looking for hotel rooms is probably similar in size to the number of tourists who can’t get to the islands due to the cancellations… and thus can’t use their rooms.
That is a great point. I will tell him. He said he found some rooms but the price was crazy. I am ready to toss what Marriott points I have in his direction if he needs them tonight and can find an available room.
He is now camped out with his family at the airport in Maui. I moved them (he gave me access to his ticket) to Standby today on a flight to get them into the airport in hopes something happens today / tonight. He is based in SFO but I also have him checking out LAX options. I am hoping they can get passes to the club. Not sure how many business travelers would be in this so maybe the club has some room for them to wait it out.
I am keeping track of what flights are at what gates so he or his wife can head over to them. There are two flights leaving soon but the standby lists are of course packed.
