Feedback on a planned trip to New England in March

Hi everyone,

we are currently planning our first trip to the New England states in March and I would like to share our thoughts and ask for your feedback.

After arriving from Germany (SAS via CPH for a last flight while they are still A*), we would like to stay in Boston for 3 nights, exploring the city and maybe doing some say trips to Salem, Rockport, etc..
And then, we are planning to get a rental car and drive along the coast and the other New England states. We are fond of good food and drinks, hiking, sport, history and anything interesting.

Our current list of possible stops includes:
  • Newport, RI
  • Provincetown, RI
  • Mystic, CT
  • Martha´s Vineyard, MA
  • New Shoreham, RI
  • Stockbridge, MA
  • Killington, VT
  • Burlington, VT
  • Stowe, VT
  • Mount Washington, NH
  • Bangor, ME
  • Camden, ME
  • Brunswick, ME
  • Portland, ME
  • Kennebunkport, ME
  • Portsmouth, NH
The idea is to start in Boston and drive clockwise going to Rhode Island / Conneticut, continuing west-northy through the Berkshire mountains to Vermont and going back east to Maine. And then back down to Boston.

I do have a couple of questions and any feedback is appreciated:
  • What are your thoughts about our current choice? Something missing? Something unnecessary?
  • Is it possible to do this all in about 7 to 10 days without being on the road the whole time?
  • What about the weather in March? We are not afraid of bad weather as we are living in one of the rainiest areas in Germany and are going to Scotland a couple of times per year. But is it constantly bad or just a few days per month?
Again, any input is appreciated.

Thanks!
