Based on the gate layout at ATL I think this would be okay. I would not take a 35 minute connection at, say, DEN or LAS. You would definitely want to sit as close to the front on the first plane as possible, and prepare to move quickly. If I was traveling alone, I'd book it. With others, maybe not. I'd also keep my eye on the schedule all day and if the first flight starts to run late, be prepared to rebook.

When these short connections work out, which they usually do, it is great because it makes your trip more efficient.
