So 737s are popular for Hawaii runs. If this happens mid point, and you have to go gunking around under 10k feet and what 250 or less knots, do you have enough fuel to make it to land, or are you going swimming. And that is with no weather …
#7519 is scheduled to land at SFO from IAD soon, then shows still continuing on to Maui and back to SFO as redeye. I'm guessing they'll swap in a 739 that's been inspected/cleared for this route (or another non-MAX9 a/c).
