A feline which was smuggled aboard a Turkish Airlines flight in a passenger's carry-on bag resulted in the plane returning to the gate at IST and the cat (and its human accomplice) being kicked off the flight. The cat was apparently wandering around the cabin prior to takeoff and did not heed crew instructions to return to its seat, fasten its safety belt and maintain its tray in the stowed and locked position. No word if the four-legged fiend was actually a travel blogger attempting to review TK's in-flight experience.

On a serious note, what the heck is going on with airport security? If a passenger can smuggle a live animal past a security checkpoint, what else are screeners missing? This is hardly the first incident of an animal being transported illicitly in a cabin--in October a woman made it onto a Taipei-bound flight with a marmot, baby otters and several tortoises and no one noticed until some of the animals got loose in the cabin.
