You can only receive elite night credit, points, and qualifying spend for rooms with the same check-in and checkout dates. The post you are quoting is prior to the change.
Each room is posted as a separate line item now, and each posting will only allow one room charge to credit per night, no matter how many you have stacked on the folio.
