Point being, even if they make policies or announcements forbidding this behavior (which they do for headphones on flights), people will still do it.

Not sure if asking to stop is received “better” from a fellow passenger/lounge guest or an employee.
On my flight Wednesday, the flight attendants stated that it was a quiet cabin and to please use headphones when using electronic devices. The guy across the aisle watched instagram stories the entire 2.5 hour flight. At first, it was really loud until his wife made him turn it down. Then it was just something I could hear, but not that loud. The flight attendant walking the aisle actually asked him to use headphones. He said ok, turned his phone down, and within a minute was back to using volume. I mean, its a 55 year old guy with his wife and teenage kids acting like a complete child. What are you going to do? Its rude, they know its rude, they don't care. So what to do?

Ranting on FT or social media doesn't seem to help. Its going to keep happening. I now swear by earplugs. I was trying to read, this guy's phone was distracting me, so I put in my trusty 3M foam earplugs and it was actually a very nice flight.

I always use earplugs when I sleep in hotels as I get a much better sleep. I have several in my travel bag. On the next flight, I put them in the minute I sat down. It was very nice.

Earplugs > Being annoyed.
