Could I book a random ticket using AMEX pay-with-miles, cancel it after 24 hours (which, per DL’s T&C would convert to an eCredit), and then use the eCredit to buy the flight?

In essence, would this be a workaround to not being able to use SkyMiles on this blacked-out DL-marketed, KE-operated flight that IS still available to book with cash (and it IS a DL ticket number).
PWM does not work on non-DL flights.
