The scheduled arrival time of my AS flight to SFO is 11:35am and my departure on StarLux is 11:40 pm - 12 hours and FIVE MINUTES of connection time. Would they be a stickler about that if 12 hours was the limit?
If they're willing to check bags through on an 18 hour connection on a single ticket (which it seems they are), it certainly can't
help hurt to ask, though the letter of the rule appears pretty clear that if you're over 12 hours (which 12h5m is) on separate tickets they would not apply the international carrier's baggage allowance. Is changing to a later AS flight that puts you under 12 hours an option? In that case, they should apply the StarLux baggage allowance without having to ask for a five minute waiver.
I'd certainly go to check-in at SEA with the StarLux itinerary and ask nicely with the 12h5m connection. No idea if it will work.
