I'm looking for a better home to dump Star Alliance miles when necessary (I principally fly One World). I currently use Singapore's Krisflyer program, but I live in the US and it's not the greatest program in the best of times. Online reviews rate the Aeroplan very highly but I'm curious how regular users like yourself feel about it. Just doing my due diligence before I start over from scratch accumulating miles in a new program.

Good program given distance-based redemptions on star alliance partners. I use SQ KF miles -mostly earned through credit card spend in Singapore for SQ redemptions but have started crediting all * alliance miles to Aeroplan. Family clubbing of miles is another advantage
Only disadvantage I see is 18-month validity - haven't investigated easy way to extend. and inability to get gold status if I dont fly Air Canada which iI am unlikely to. ( may be experts can correct me if I am wrong on this
