What does any of this have to do with United? Your gripe is with the hotel you stayed at and should be posted in whatever appropriate thread for said hotel over on the hotel forums. If you got food poisoning from this frozen fish & chips would you blame United? No. So don't blame them for a horrible hotel policy of forcing overnight airline passengers to crappy, overpriced food.
United did right by giving you a hotel voucher and meal vouchers IMO.
