When one choice is offered it's usually vegetarian as that can suit a larger range of diets.
You can't keep everyone happy. You don't want vegetarian but you don't want red meat. What happens if the person next to you doesn't like chicken and wants beef or lamb? What do you feel about seafood? I'd love to have a seafood option, there used to be the option to select seafood meal as a special meal but that disappeared years ago.
You're been overly fussy. Next we'll have a (lacto-ovo) vegetarian on here complaining that the vegetarian option is vegan and they want their proper cheese!
Why are you making this an either or binary choice when for several decades airlines have been successfully serving 1 meat/1 vegetarian/ 1 fish main. If an airline only wants to serve 1 vegetarian meal as the main, then let pax know this before they make their purchase so that their expectations can be appropriately set. I simply cannot believe some of you are attempting to defend this ridiculous lack of service or gross incompetence.
