I'm due to fly MID-DFW on AA then on a separate ticket DFW-LHR on BA. I have a 9 hour connection in DFW so no issue with connection times there.

I have two questions:

1) Is it out of the question for the agent in MID to tag my bag through to LHR? (helpful as the BA desk at DFW won't open for hours after my arrival)
2) I'm on a basic economy ticket on AA from MID-DFW. I'm a OW Emerald so I get three checked bags, but are these 70lbs or 50lbs? I'm intending to take some heavy things so 70lbs is needed really.
