Hi. I apologize if this has been answered previoulsy.

I have a Chase United Explorer card and it is my understanding is that to check bags/take carry-ons for free on United basic economy flights, I have to actually purchase the ticket with the card (in contrast to American/Delta….they let you use any credit card with this benefit as long as you have the right kind of credit card with them).

Would this not work if I use the TravelBank to purchase airfare? If this is the case, is it possible to still get this benefit by paying a portion of airfare with the credit card and paying for the rest with the TravelBank?
