I picked up the car and the accident occurred in Western NYS. There were some minor medical claims related to the accident which were paid by Sedgwick/Avis, as NYS follows no-fault rules. In hindsight it does seem that I could have left my personal car insurance completely out of this.
it sounds like everything worked as it should have, though you were stressed throughout the process, rightfully so. Easy to say in hindsight you should have left your personal insurance out of the loop, but it sounds like they responded to you well and were ready to be your backup, as you noted.
