Correct - you can definitely upgrade HBO fares. It sounds like J might been full for your flight? I have known for there to be a few seats available but they won't offer them as an AUP due to the inability to add catering or similar
J is quite full. Boarded with one door, and I haven’t noticed any empty suites. They did mention a F space, but I guess there isn’t enough catering, and upgrading without F catering would likely generate a complaint. So make an excuse to refuse?
