I'm afraid I don't have an ideal datapoint, but I have this:
I selected a prepaid, nonrefundable hotel stay that offered 1000 pts just to book, and added the VIP points. I checked in very late, after audit had been run and I had been marked as a no-show. After the very green but very kind desk rep contacted a superior that answered their phone at 3a (!) I was still given a room, and my points posted appropriately less than a week later, backdated to the date of checkout. Both the standard points and the VIP points posted as CPQP, but were posted separately so they definitely have the ability to code them differently should they so desire.
I've been enjoying being able to top off for CP this way, and I hope the VIP points remain CPQP qualifying.
