Piggy backing on this thread because I had a similar illness last month and was contemplating whether to fly or not. In the end, as I was on the mend, I flew as scheduled.

I was on Avios redemption - in such event (with proof of illness provided) will BA rebook as long as there is seat availability in the originally booked cabin, or also subject to Avios availability (which have all but dried up).
