Illness whilst away
We have been away in the States for Christmas and New Year, and were due to fly back this evening.
My partner has been ill for the past few days, and tested positive (home test) for Covid this morning. In my opinion they were not fit for travel tonight.
I spoke with BA earlier who ‘suspended’ our booking and said they’d rebook without charge once we’d presented a not fit to fly letter.
Getting a local doctors appointment today has proved impossible, and I’ve tried several places. Our private GP in the UK conducted a video appointment and wrote a letter stating “I would be supportive of his application to defer travel home on medical grounds in light of his recent positive COVID test and ongoing symptoms”.
I’ve emailed BA but not heard back, hoping the letter will be sufficient? It was made clear we were going out of policy.
The chap at You First was very clear that we had only one chance at rebooking (once the unfit to fly was accepted). So after some advice on what to do for the best, should we delay rebooking until they are feeling better and testing negative? How long will BA let us defer?
Thanks as always for the guidance of the forum.
