Liverpool is an interesting city, there are worse scenarios. However the weather will get discounted here, and any claim - beyond Right to Care - won't get very far. Had the crew been 3:30 hrs late (and thus making a 3 hour delay on arrival inevitable) you would have had a stronger argument.
