Prior to Xmas I flew to New Orleans, via Miami. For various reasons I was the last person to arrive at the connecting gate - the Captain was stood there and heartily welcomed me on board, walking me down the airbridge. Upon arriving at 1F I noticed 1D's bag in the overhead. 1D was a slightly bohemian looking older gentleman.

I placed my luggage (small backpack) alongside his in the overhead.

As I stepped into my seat he challenged me as to where I'd put my luggage and I tersely said "alongside yours". He became virtually apoplectic. He asked repeatedly and I told him repeatedly, ALONGSIDE yours.

I settled into my seat and rapidly dozed off. When I came to he was regaling 1A and C about his ownership of some shops in Nawlins and the make and model of his private jet. I drifted back to sleep and woke for landing. He disappeared quickly. I went to retrieve my bag and found it wasn't there. Seems he'd moved it to the opposite side of the cabin several rows back. So with the flow of pax I had to wait a while to retrieve it.

Regretfully I couldn't be bothered finding him at the carousel (what would be the point?) as I already knew my luggage was still in MIA so I just left for my hotel. Bit galling though.
