We had a very pleasant one-night staycation at Hotel Figueroa right before Christmas. It was my first Globalist stay (I hit 60 nights last month), and Christmastime is a weird time for me since I've had two cancer diagnosis at this time in the past three years, so I usually try to get a staycation for a welcome distraction. I noted in the reservation notes that it was my cancer diagnosis anniversary, but didn't reach out to the hotel about it otherwise.
I had asked about a suite upgrade via text since 1 bedroom standard suites were showing as available online but I was told that it was an error. However, a few hours later, it seems like a different person responded and said they would upgrade me to Casa suite! I was very happy. We booked on a cash rate that included valet. Valet was pleasant but my kids and I wanted to bring our luggage in ourselves. (The kiddos got their own luggage and are very possessive about it).
They left quite a few welcome gifts, a nice sweet card (I kept it), and two desserts to commemorate my diagnosis anniversary. I was very touched because most places don't go above and beyond when treatment ends, and I greatly appreciate the gesture. There was a rollaway bed set up in the living room, and we originally had me sleep on it but we ended up all in the king bed together.
Shower was fantastic. The kids took long, luxurious showers. We had breakfast downstairs -- tell the host that you're globalist since they'll hand you the separate menu there. My four year old daughter threw a mini tantrum when they told her they were out of pineapple juice, but then her fruit plate arrived with 90 percent pineapple lol. Lobby was decorated with Christmas decor -- I think this is one of the most stylish hotels in the LA area. Not the typical hotel lobby vibe.
Saltwater pool was fantastic. Wish there was a hot tub, but the pool was heated and we all got in for a quick swim in December.
Note: Casa Suite is far from the elevators. Something to note if you have mobility issues and traveling with young kids who insist on carrying their own luggage. It took us thirty minutes to get from our room to the elevator because my children are just stubborn.
Anyway, we had a pleasant stay. It was a nice staycation away from my hectic work life, hectic home life with my adorable gremlins, visits to the hospital, and our messy house. I'm planning on returning yearly for a staycation.
