Sorry if this has been answered before. I did a search but did not find the answer.

We will be flying LHR-PVG (Shanghai) on BA Club Class, 2 hours of transit, then PVG-HKG (Hong Kong) on Cathay Pacific, both flights are on the same ticket.

Will it be necessary to claim checked luggage and then re-check in? This will be a huge pain. I believe I read that this was necessary many years ago, hopefully this is not the case now.
