OP would first use the five new GoH certs and then have access to legacy GoH benefits until their status expires. I don’t think that’s exactly the same as having an extra year or for Glob, unless you know and can book all your reservations for the next year by end of Feb 2024.
You can’t use the legacy Guest of Honor benefit on yourself though…also those would all need to be award stays after the 5 are used up.

Yes, they should have a 2025 expiration so if you book then cancel you’ll get the certificate back.

It sucks too because Category changes aren’t until March.
