I usually use my points to transfer to partners, with the exception of very occasional airline tickets. As I had quite a few points and have already committed to St. Maarten in July 2024, I booked a 7-night stay using a combination of points with the remainder charged to the card.

The $50 hotel credit has already posted to my account. However, I have heard that if the $50 credit is applied, then the charge is not eligible to earn 5X UR points. Is this a YMMV-type situation, or is it pretty set in stone? I would definitely give back the $50 if it meant earning 5X points as the balance that I charged to the card was nearly$2000.
