On January 1, 2024 I will receive 5 Guest of Honor awards.
If I use those five awards, I can then make unlimited (old style) GoH bookings during the rest of 2024.

That seems too good to be true, so I want to check with the Flyer Talk briantrust.

Is there any reason to make some GoH bookings for 2024 before the New Year?
Here’s what I see -

You’ll have Globalist naturally until February 29th 2024. I would do as many stays as you can through then.

You will then have about 10 months to use your (5) Guest of Honor certificates for your own stays.

You will then be able to use these for up to 35 nights of stays as a Guest of Honor receiving Globalist benefits (7 night validity x 5 Certificates).

Let’s say you use them all by February 1st for bookings throughout the year. From February 2nd to February 29th you’ll be able to book “legacy guest of honor bookings”.

Being that these are utilizing the current Guest of Honor method you can only book them for award stays and you can only book them for someone else, not yourself. These are two big caveats to keep in mind.

Though I’m sure there’s no shortage of people on FT willing to gift you a Guest of Honor certificate so that may help as well.
