SFO: Should I switch from United?

So my home airport is SFO and in my last job I traveled a ton internationally for work. Had United Global Services for several years.

After switching jobs to one without the travel, United gave me a gradual off-ramp via a year of 1K, but next year I'll be Silver (e.g. basically no status).

Truthfully I miss flying Alaska. In my years of flying United, it's just always had middling service, old planes, no charm, etc. So I'm thinking of taking this opportunity to switch to Alaska.

Nowadays I take 1-2 international vacations per year, typically flying business class. Plus let's say half a dozen domestic flights, typically SFO-PDX, SFO-Austin, SFO-LAS, SFO-OGG, SFO-NYC, etc. for holidays, work stuff, etc. These are the flights I'd prefer to fly on Alaska.

My question is: Does this switch make sense? Can I book the international travel on Alaska partner airlines via Alaska -- i.e., is the flight inventory there? Does it make more sense to sign up for American's AAdvantage and stock up points there rather than Alaska? Appreciate the help.
