I had the same problem years ago. Fortunately my employer was a bit more flexible in approving occasional charges on personal cards (even though it was against policy), so I didn’t contact Hertz.

If you don’t care about your Hertz account (you might end up on their No Rent list), perhaps you could contact your card issuer and ask for a chargeback as you didn’t authorize a charge to your personal card.
