DL Amex Cards are increasingly worthless to me over the past few years. I dropped all 4 of our DL Amex cards last fall after the Skymile program changes and got 6 Chase Ink cards worth about $20k in value. The Amex companion passes are worthless and cost me about an extra $500 to use (due to "upgrading" 5 people to main cabin vs just flying the competitor at a cheaper, sometimes much cheaper cost). I let about half of mine expire because I can never find any value in them (granted, they are easy to use when planning ahead...they just cost more money than flying another airline)

So, OP, you are not wrong. The DL Amex Plat has much less value these days and is not worth having.
