This forum tends to have lots of complaints about hotel that don’t live up to the Hhonors benefits. My experience (traveling almost entirely out of the US) is totally the opposite. I almost always get a substantial upgrade and a good breakfast. I’d like to highlight the three best experiences, post-Covid. I note when they happen, in part to show these were all during peak season

• Hilton Mexico City Reforma — This week — they initially made a mistake in charging my card with a prepaid rate, so that figures into it, but still…upgraded from standard room to 1-bedroom suite with park view on the 25th floor (highest possible with this room type), $50USD food and beverage credit per day, free 80-minute massage, bottle of wine and fruits in room, 10AM checkin, 3PM checkout, breakfast in restaurant or lounge
• Doubletree Amsterdam Centraal — summer 2022 — stayed here with extended family. Two golds and one diamond. All booked into standard rooms. One room upgraded to queen with balcony, one to a one bedroom suite all on high floors. Reservation at LuminAir for dinner on a beautiful night for eight.
• Hilton Rio copacabana — February 2022 — upgraded from standard room to one bedroom ocean view suite, 10AM checkin, 8PM checkout, great service
