- Just finished 5 night award stay Dec.17-22, 2023, in a two bedroom villa. I was surprised to see the award availability as this timeshare is typically unavailable for booking on points. We are very much familiar with the area because of multiple past stays in either neighboring Sheraton or Koloa Landing (Autograph Collection). However, this was our first stay at this Marriott vacation club.
The big plus is the location right next to Poipu beach and a short walk to the beach at Sheraton if you decide so. We were given a two-bedroom in Hale 7 on the 3rd floor facing inside with some ocean view. I would prefer 3rd floor vs 4th because the latter room have smaller coverage of the lanai from the top and it does rain in Kauai even in Poipu. The spacious suite was is in good shape but the design is ca. 25 years old. There are two main swimming pools and one smaller right at the ocean, two hot tubs, and plenty places for grilling. Clearly, the swimming pool facilities are no match to Koloa Landing but you are right on a beach!
The main issue is that this resort has very limited food facilities - just a coffee shop/convenience store and an ocean front bar. They would not even offer free coffee in the lobby. So your best bet is to stock up at Costco and take advantage of your full cooking facilities in the villa.
No recognition of Titanium status - just 1,000 bonus pints. No resort fee but $25+tax/nigh parking (which was plentiful underground). We have received an email one day of skipping daily housekeeping for 1,000 points, which we did, but never received the points. One day we had guest and owner "social hour" that lasted for exactly 30 min. Some crackers and prepackaged sliced salami was served together with unlimited Mai Tai that was watered down to the extreme - one could have a dozen of those and still be within the legal limit to drive.
So we checked out out at 11 am on Dec 22 and moved down the street to the Grand Hyatt to get Globalist recognition and enjoy proper complimentary cocktails at the Captain bar while our room was getting ready.
