Yes, you go through USCBP immigration and TSA screening, but no, you won't need to claim bags to walk through Guam Customs.
My KIX-GUM flight arrives at 1:25am and GUM-TKK (direct) leaves at 9:20am (UA133, not island hopper, nor stops in PNI it seems).
One the way back, TKK-GUM leaves at 1:55am, with 4 hr layover in GUM. (I made a mistake, not GUM-NRT, but GUM-FUK).
I guess, either way, I will clear USCBP, and likely wont need to claim bags.
Thanks very much! GUM is really confusing....even though I've been to Guam 4 times....but in the past was either HNL-GUM-ROR, or island hopper to SPN or with stopover in GUM, and no checked bags...
