I've had to do all three - normal channels, exec email, and legal letter - for other merchants/service providers.
The only two which failed (ever) were Ticketmaster (I now have two accounts) and Walmart (who finally changed their policy - I was able to use a new email without old email - in late 2023).
This is good advice. I always recommend trying to resolve it on your own through normal methods first, but don’t be afraid to go these routes when needed. I used the exec method a few years ago with Ring security systems regarding an item not received after multiple failed supervisor escalation attempts. And now I’m in the process of having a lawyer write a letter to Chase bank regarding incorrect personal info on my account stemming from a name mismatch. I’m sure with Delta a similar enough approach would eventually work.
